Got laid off. Then had to replace the battery. Which was fun.

Getting laid off is no fun, been there done that. You at least get a decent severance?

Sorry to hear that. Hope you’re able to find a new (and better) job soon!

On the bright side the battery probably does not need registering.
Hope something new and good turns up for you.

Sorry to hear that. The worst part is the uncertainty, but you can get through it.
From somebody who’s been there, take tomorrow off to go through the range of emotions. Be angry, sad, confused, worried, etc. On the next day, figure out your personal finances, and how to cut costs in every way possible. Then put your head down and get to work finding work.
Don’t get discouraged - Most job postings get a bazillion applications, the majority of which aren’t remotely qualified. In order to get any given job, you need to be #1 out of a bazillion. Go into every opportunity with that attitude.
If you’ve been thinking of starting your own business, now is a great time.

Hopefully you’ll find something soon.

A months worth. Hopefully that’s enough.

Certainly hope so, felt like I was barely scraping by before this.

Any chance at all that you’d want to move? Specifically to the Dayton, Ohio area...? I work on WPAFB and we’re in desperate need of an IT master....

Thanks very much

Frankly I knew this was coming for a while, our acting CIO didn’t like me and had it in for me. Fortunately we’ve been cutting our spending dramatically already so we have that mindset. I will probably take your advice and clear my head tomorrow.

That would be bad news for my family

Well personally I wouldn’t care too much but my spouse has a lot of family here. But it may come down to moving.

Ok. If you want, I can run a resume through the bosses, see if there’s something there at least?

That sucks man. Sorry

Sure, how do you want the resume?

Oddly enough, I was sent home this morning from a contract job, but it’s an issue with the way the data is delivered. If it goes past tomorrow, I’ll start looking. They really should be paying to retain us (just 2 contractors) but they probably won’t see that it’s to their advantage. So get something else. You owe no one anything.

The thing is, my expertise will help the case I’m working on, and I want to contribute. But I can’t sit in our apartment and not get paid.

Dang. Sorry to hear that. We’ve been through several layoffs and the one thing I’ve learned is that we always manage to bounce back.
Good luck in your search.

Just got the word - the job is on hold until Monday. Now I have to try and negotiate a payment to keep me from going elsewhere.
